Meeting Rooms, Desktop, Home Studios, Mobiles -All part of..
The Connected Workplace
“Going to Work” is no longer about the place you go to but getting down to whatever you need to do to achieve your goals, wherever you are.
The Connected Workplace permits anyone in your organisation, to communicate and collaborate together, with the same high quality, familiar user experience, on whatever device they choose.
Whether it be a meeting room video conferencing system, a desktop PC, a mobile phone or a tablet, your chose cloud service platform provides the “glue” to bring it all together allowing for chat, cloud-based telephony, face-to-face meetings on the go or pre-planned conference calls. Moving forward the advent of artificial intelligence (AI) in cameras, speakerphones, USB hubs, the cloud itself and/or interconnected peripherals will transform the way in which we meet and the way we work.
What makes a Connected Workplace Solution?
Organisations are changing the way they work to accommodate new hybrid workflows. Those not really thinking it through are taking the easy way out and demanding everyone returns to the office. We call this weak management!.
Strong managers are looking at new workflows, productivity gains, staff retention and customer satisfaction and implementing new strategies to move forward rather than backwards. Automated solutions that connect anyone, anywhere, anytime to their teams, permit employees in multiple locations to work flexibly, wherever and whenever they need to. Their perception of their workplace is a modern one run by strong management team and fit for the future.
What is needed to get this process underway?
- Remote pre-booking of resources. People, Desks, Rooms and Systems in those rooms. When you cannot physically walk down the corridor to check the availability of a meeting room containing a particular piece of equipment, you need to be able to confidently do it virtually from any remote location.
- One Button to Join. Meeting Room systems simply connect. No meeting IDs or passwords to remember.
- Quality for Everyone. Desktop and Mobile devices must be able to see and hear every meeting room participant not as a pinprick but intelligently managed
- “It just works” must be the way every user perceives the total solution
- Customer experience is created by good Visitor Management. An unmanned reception needs visitor entry management, wayfinding, catering services linked to room booking.
- Hot-desking. Office desks in the modern office, where rented floor space is at a premium, are just like meeting rooms; they are spaces that need to be booked, used, cleaned and free’d off again. The process is the same as for room booking except the booking status is local to the desk instead of outside the room.
- AI Consideration. AI is already here. Voices of participants are analysed, actions interpreted, minutes summarised, actions chased. Whatever platform you choose, AI is in development or already released in an early form. Camera tracking linked to directional voice provides for automation in the training room where participants focus on their material and on their business actions rather than the technology.
- Security and Resilience. A strong solution, well supported is essential to garner confidence in management and staff that the connected workplace is a safe workplace. VideoCentric’s suppliers such as Microsoft, Zoom, RingCentral, GoBright, Huddly and others and banking their futures on AI and for that it must be secure. How data is collected, how it is transmitted, where it is stored, how it is retrieved, discarded and managed are all essential to the modern workplace of the future and of today. .
- Don’t believe the hype. Consult with the experts and understand what is happening and when. Most flyers and many data sheets are written with the future in mind but aren’t so clear on the here and now or how it will evolve on certain hardware platforms without a change of chipset, ie Generation 2 of what they have today. Here at VideoCentric we’ve been looking into that with some alarming results. Tal with us, we will introduce you to the right people and talk openly about the pros and the cons.
- Try before you Buy. With live demonstrations, free loan equipment and proof of concept trials on offer, getting it wrong out to be a thing of the past. Many though seem to want to guess at the solution, buy cheap online and end up spending twice. We aim to get it right first time using our wealth of experience, knowledge, technical skills and equipment/.cloud investments.
