VideoCentric was traditionally never known as a “telephony” provider, i.e. we did not supply PABXs or handsets to connect with them, whether that be over PSTN, ISDN or VoIP over VPN. In the modern world though, where the majority of communication is in the cloud, there is little difference between video over IP and voice over IP apart from the application running, the features supported and the type of endpoint device connected, whether that be a desktop phone, a mobile device or a software app on a PC or Mac operated with a headset. Accepting though that telephony and contact centre feature requirements differ from those of video conferencing systems, VideoCentric chose to partner with the world leader in cloud telephony, RingCentral, over 10 years ago so that both organisations could learn from each other and harness each other’s skills and market experience.
